About the course

Objectives

  • Interactively use books and discuss 5 or more book examples to use for varying mental health conditions and symptoms.
  • Learn at least 10 areas to consider when using books in therapy
  • Compare at least 3 pros and cons of using books in therapy

About the Presenter:

Brandy Guidry

Brandy graduated in 2015 from Southern Nazarene University with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. She works for Transitions, Inc. and provides therapy to children and adults individually and as a family with an emphasis on treating trauma and through a primarily Adlerian lens. She is an approved Oklahoma LPC supervisor and as the Clinical Coordination and Quality Manager at Transitions, Inc., oversees training for the agency and the internship program.

She is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S™) with a passion for play therapy. She also serves as the current president of the Oklahoma branch of the Association for Play Therapy (OKAPT). Brandy also thrives to establish healthy and positive attachment in parent-child relationships and promotes cultural diversity and inclusion in the mental health field. She is a certified facilitator for Circle of Security, an attachment based parenting program, rostered in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and also a certified parent coach for Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC).
